Born in Ireland and musically trained in Germany, Victor Herbert (1859-1924) was America's first great composer for the musical theater. The creator of more than 40 operettas, Herbert produced a series of popular and enduring stage works, including Babes in Toyland and Naughty Marietta.
This treasury of tuneful favorites, reprinted directly from rare editions, comprises 37 beloved hits from Herbert's operettas. About the Author
American composer Victor Herbert (1859-1924) enjoyed success as a cellist and conductor but is best known for his Broadway operettas, including "Babes in Toyland." A founder of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), Herbert also wrote orchestral, piano, and choral works.
