Today, as our planet’s road network continues to grow exponentially, the science of road ecology has become increasingly vital. At this event, Ben Goldfarb will talk about his sweeping, spirited, and timely investigation into how humans have altered the natural world―and how we can create a better future for all living beings.
Laura Heady is a biologist who has engaged and assisted local communities and land trusts to conserve Hudson Valley biodiversity for more than 20 years. Since 2006, she has worked for Cornell University at the Hudson River Estuary Program, where she leads conservation planning and amphibian migration and road-crossing projects, and before that, led the biodiversity assessment training program at Hudsonia, Ltd. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Rutgers University and a Master of Science in biology with an emphasis in ecology from Idaho State University, where she studied habitat use of pygmy rabbits, an endemic species of the Great Basin Desert.
