A living portrait of Chronic Lyme disease and its patients’ struggles for recognition and treatment, Suffering the Silence,  Allie Cashel's memoir, detailing her own experience with Chronic Lyme disease and sharing the stories of a number of other patients from around the world. A living portrait of the disease and its patients’ struggles for recognition and treatment, Suffering the Silence: Chronic Lyme Disease in an Age of Denial will be published on September 8, 2015, by North Atlantic Books.

Born in London and raised in Westchester, NY, Allie was diagnosed with Lyme at age seven. Now a passionate advocate for increased awareness and reformed treatment of Chronic Lyme, she is the founder of sufferingthesilence.com, an online community for people living with chronic illness, and a member of the Jr. Board of the Tick Borne Disease Alliance. In Fall 2015, she will tour the US and Europe to promote the book and raise awareness about the experiences of patients with tick-borne disease.
