Top: Author Alysa Wishingrad and THE VERDIGRIS PAWN jacket cover.

Alysa Wishingrad once had a whole different career working in theater, tv, and film, but nothing could be better or more exciting than writing stories and crafting worlds for middle-grade readers. 8-12-year-olds are truly some of the smartest, most open, and inquisitive people around. We all need to find ways to help them hold onto that magic as they grow up. Her new novel for Middle-Grade readers, THE VERDIGRIS PAWN, is a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selection. It's a story about a boy who underestimates his power, a girl with a gift long thought lost and a country ready for revolution.

Diane Zahler and DAUGHTER OF THE WHITE ROSE jacket cover.

Diane Zahler grew up reading children's books and never wanted to do anything but write them. Now she is the author of six middle-grade fantasy novels! Her new historical novel, DAUGHTER OF THE WHITE ROSE is based on the real royal scandal of the Princes in the Tower and covers a shocking episode in medieval history that has captured the imagination for 530 years. Diane lives in the country with her husband and slightly neurotic dog in what is aptly nicknamed The Bug House.

Rebecca Ansari and THE IN-BETWEEN jacket cover.

Rebecca KS Ansari lives in a very loud house in Minneapolis with her husband, their four boys, and two huge dogs. After twelve years as an ER doctor, she shelved her scrubs to write magical and mysterious worlds for middle-grade readers. She is the author of The Missing Piece of Charlie O’Reilly, and her new novel THE IN-BETWEEN is a dark, twisty adventure about the forgotten among us and what it means to be seen.

Heather Kassner and THE BONE GARDEN jacket cover.

Heather Kassner loves thunderstorms, hummingbirds, and books. She lives with her husband in Arizona, waiting (and waiting, and waiting) for the rain, photographing hummingbirds, and reading and writing strange little stories. Her debut novel THE BONE GARDEN is a spooky and adventurous illustrated fantasy novel about a girl made of dust and bone and imagination who seeks the truth about the magic that brought her to life. She has a new novel coming out next month too! In THE PLENTIFUL DARKNESS, an orphaned girl chases a thieving boy into a magician’s land of starless, moonless gloom where other children have gone missing before her.
